Ombudsperson
The Humboldt Ombuds service provides informal problem-solving for the entire campus community. Ombudspersons offer a safe place to discuss problems or issues within the University, and can help you identify options for addressing specific concerns and resolving conflicts. Ombudspersons treat all inquiries as confidential (except as required by law or where there appears to be imminent risk of serious harm). Ombudspersons do not take a side in disputes. Overall, Ombudspersons are advocates for fairness and equity. You are encouraged to visit with one of the University ombudspersons:
- When you feel you have been treated unfairly
- When you want to discuss a sensitive question or issue
- When you think there has been miscommunication
- When you are unsure what policies or procedures apply
- When you want to discuss a campus-related issue
- When you have a concern about campus climate
